Welcome to the Steinbach & Area Garden Club Website!

Have a look around the site to get to know the various projects our club is involved in. If you are able, please join us at one of our meetings.

Our meetings are usually held on the second Monday of each month. We meet at 7:00 pm at the Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach unless special arrangements have been made at another location.

We keep you up to date on events using our website, the local radio stations CHSM AM1250 & MIX 96.7FM, as well as phone calls and e-mails to our members.

Canada 150 in Bloom

The year 2017 marks the 150th Anniversary of Canada and is promoted by the Canadian Government as Canada 150, as Canada marks the sesquicentennial anniversary of Canadian Confederation. SAGC is celebrating the event by posting pictures of Canada 150 blossoms (red and white). SAGC members show us your pride by planting red & white flowers and then sending your pictures to rose@bakxgroup.ca to add to this website. We are starting this off with a few pictures of the Canada 150 tulips taken at the MHV and a member's garden as they were developing. Check them out on our Canada 150 in Bloom gallery page on the Garden Gallery tab above.

Also visit the Mennonite Heritage Village for some other displays. Have fun celebrating our country's birthday with your own creative gardening flare!

SAGC Mission Statement

We promote interest in horticulture and act as a source of information for club members and the general public, through educational presentations and gardening related activities.

Why Topping Hurts Trees

We see this done too often, yet topping is perhaps the most harmful tree pruning practice.
