The Steinbach & Area Garden Club was formed on March 1, 1999 by long time dedicated gardener Mr. Fred Kaita. The Steinbach & Area Garden Club is an enthusiastic group of individuals who enjoy all aspects of creating and growing a variety of gardens. Our aim is to learn as much as possible about the plants and techniques that we are passionate about.
We promote interest in horticulture and act as a source of information to club members and the general public, through educational presentations and gardening related activities.
We are affiliated with the Manitoba Horticultural0 Association. An MHA newsletter is sent to our club several times a year and this helps keep us connected with many other Manitoba garden clubs/horticulture societies.
Our meetings are usually held on the second Monday of each month. We meet at 7:00 pm at the Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach unless special arrangements have been made at another location. We keep you up to date on events using the Carillon Community News Column, local radio station CHSM AM1250, this website and phone calls to our members.
Our annual plant sale is held in May. Club members are asked to donate plants and other garden-related items and have first choice at the sale. This is the club’s main fundraiser and is always very popular.
In June will be our BBQ followed by a tour of several members’ gardens. This year we are looking forward to a “field trip” in August to the International Peace Garden.
